"After the creation of Darth Punked , Phone Hacked was designed and painted to gain entry into The Royal Academy's Summer Show of 2011. As an artist, I felt the need to create a painting that conjured-up new challenges and through new challenges comes new questions! The first question was always in reflect to ownership of visual image (copyrights) including the basics of just having your photo taken on a phone to mirroring the same principals with recorded sound. At the time of creating the painting the "Phone Hacking Scandal" had only just started hitting the new, but not as a major headline and it wasn’t until later that summer that the scandal with The News of the World became the biggest headlines of that year. The use of the Dalek shaped image celebrates British Sci-fi design and is also used as a metaphor for dictator.
